Mayor Yaela Machlis is an attorney, a graduate of the Department of Economics and Management at Tel Aviv University and holds a law degree from Bar-Ilan University. She began her municipal career as the chairwoman of the Parents’ Council at the “Hayovel” school, and later served as a member of the City Council, as chairwoman of the opposition, and as a leader of campaigns for the benefit of residents. She has served as mayor since 2013.
In addition to her position as mayor of the city of Yehud-Monosson, Mayor Machlis holds several other positions: Chairwoman of the Yehud-Monosson Economic Development Corporation, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of the Yehud Comprehensive High School, Chairwoman of the Yehud-Monosson Finance Company, and Chairwoman of the Committee for the Advancement of the Status of Women and Gender Equality in the Local Government Center. The mayor promotes and leads many projects aimed at strengthening and empowering women in society. She has established and initiated a women’s council, a director’s course, sports groups for girls and women, empowerment groups, a women’s patrol, and more in the city.
